This vehicle has been well-maintained, with service records dating back to 2002. We have kept it garaged in winter, so it’s rarely been subjected to those hard cold starts and long warm-up idles. Yes, it’s compact enough to fit in those small YK single garages!

Good condition for its age overall. A reliable, economical, and very practical vehicle. With AWD, good winter tires, ABS, and no glut of electronic systems sensitive to cold temperatures and cold batteries, these are great winter vehicles around town for any driver. YK has the highest per capita concentration of 1st-generation RAV4’s in North America for a reason! (OK, I made that last part up.)

Condition & Maintenance

• Except as noted below, everything works, and is unmodified from how this classic rolled off the production line in Japan in 04/98. No warning lights. No fluid leaks.
• Tires are General Altimax Arctic winter tires, lots of tread (8/32”) remaining, on aftermarket 16” wheels. (Also have summer tires w/o rims).
• Body is good but not perfect, with a few minor dents, a scuff, and rust at the rear driver’s side quarter panel above the wheel well, and on the driver’s side door sill.
• Windshield is good. There is a very small crack (2” long) at the lower left corner (it is edge-to-edge so can’t grow further).
• Upholstery is good, no rips or tears.
• Timing belt was done in 2007 at 149k by previous owner (have receipt).
• Rear diff and transfer case oils changed in 2013 at 188k (synthetic).
• Brakes done in 2014 at 192k (hoses, pads/rotors, and drums/shoes).
• Transmission oil changed in 2015 at 195k.
• Exhaust fully replaced in 2015 at 196k.
• Battery replaced in 2020 at 215k.
• Engine oil changed & air filter replaced yesterday.
• Washed, vacuumed and detailed prior to sale.
• Driver’s side door lock cylinder doesn’t work with the key; works fine from inside, and with fob.
• There is a clicking noise from the front end when turning, and I believe the passenger side CV axle needs replacement. The driver side one was done in 2015 which cost about $550 at Autotec. (Intended to do this before selling but ran out of time… asking price has been reduced to reflect this.)
• Sometimes the power steering squeals when cold. (Belt tension needs adjustment. Fluid is good.)
• Equipped with A/C but it doesn’t get cold anymore.
